Glens Falls National Selected as Bank Sponsor for Release of Saratoga Quarter

SCHUYLERVILLE– Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Company has been selected by the National Park Service as bank sponsor for the ceremonial release of the 2015 Saratoga National Historical Park quarter on November 17.

The design is part of the U.S. Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters® program – a multiyear initiative to honor 56 national parks and other national sites. It depicts the 1777 British surrender at Saratoga on the reverse, with a close-up of General John Burgoyne surrendering his sword to General Horatio Gates.

The quarter launch ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, at Schuylerville High School. Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Company, the sponsoring bank, will be on-site with rolls of Saratoga quarters for exchange immediately after the ceremony until 11:15 a.m.

“Glens Falls National Bank is honored to participate in this ceremony, which recognizes our region’s important role in American history,” said CEO Tom Murphy. “We look forward to seeing this great new U.S. coin and helping to circulate it locally.”

Individuals may exchange cash for $10 rolls of newly minted Saratoga National Historical Park quarters in the gymnasium. Saratoga quarters will also be available following the event at the Bank’s Schuylerville Office at 73 Broad Street. For hours or directions, visit gfnational.com.

The launch ceremony is open to the public and will involve Schuylerville students as well as local and state dignitaries. It will be streamed live on wnyt.com.
