Saratoga Springs - At the Downtown Business Association’s October General Meeting at Harvey's Restaurant, 14 Phila Street, the Downtown Business Association members teamed up with TJ Tracy and his team of volunteers. Together, they are coordinating a Downtown Business Campaign, "A Can On Every Counter", to help raise funds for kids in need for this year's Thanksgiving and Holiday Season.
TJ Tracy, 15 years old, started TJ's Turkeys 6 years ago when he realized that some children and their families weren't fortunate enough to enjoy a Thanksgiving Turkey. He decided he wanted to help. The campaign has grown every year since the inception.
This year the Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Association wanted to help TJ and his team of volunteers by providing counter space for his donation cans and raise awareness for this great community project. TJ's Turkeys put on a number of fundraising events throughout the holiday season and he is associated with Franklin Community Center for those who wish to send in donations on behalf of his efforts.
You can follow TJ's progress on Facebook. If you would like a can placed at your business or more information, you can call Matt McCabe at Saratoga Guitar, 581-1603.
As of press time, over 30 Cans are in place in various downtown businesses to collect donations for this great cause. Keep your eyes open for one on your next visit to Downtown and help feed needy local families during the holidays.
