Colonie Chamber teams up with Rumors, Tala and the American Cancer Society for No-Shave November event

ALBANY, NY – 10/29/15 – It’s that time of year again — time to ditch the scissors, razors and clippers and let it grow! This year, Rumors IV Men, Tala American Bistro and the Colonie Chamber of Commerce have teamed up with the American Cancer Society to host No-Shave November. This program encourages participants to put down their razors for 30 days and donate the monthly hair-maintenance expenses to the cause to promote men’s cancer.

The program then culminates in a “Shave-off” held at Rumors IV Men on 12/1 at 5pm, where, with a $100 minimum donation, participants will be treated with a professional shave and a drink as well as Happy Hour Specials at Tala American Bistro. Prizes for fundraisers include a package to Rumors and a $50 gift certificate to Tala.

Participants have the option of setting up an online fundraising page to solicit even more support.  To form a fundraising page and join the “no shave” movement, visit www.no-shave.org. Participants may then join the “Rumors IV Men” team to get in on the fun.

In addition to raising funds, the effort generates a great amount of cancer awareness. American Cancer Society Senior Market Manager Jeff Winters said, “The most important reason we’re doing this is to raise awareness for men’s cancer because it can affect anyone at any stage of their life. The impact of being diagnoses with cancer affects you and those around you, most notably your family, friends and colleagues.”

This event is a partnership between the American Cancer Society, Rumors IV Men, Tala American Bistro and the Colonie Chamber of Commerce. All donations raised through No-Shave November will support The American Cancer Society.

Tom Nolte, Chamber President added that “the Colonie Chamber of Commerce is pleased to partner with Tala American Bistro, Rumors IV Men and the American Cancer Society for No Shave November. We encourage our members to participate in order to raise awareness as well as donations towards prostate cancer and look forward to the December 1st Shave Off.”

Marri Aviza commented that “at Rumors we are passionate about supporting cancer awareness and are looking forward to styling those supporting this cause in style on December 1st!"

No-Shave November and the American Cancer Society partner annually to grow awareness by encouraging people to embrace their hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free. The tradition encourages people to donate the money they’d usually spend on shaving and grooming for a month to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle.
