End of January classes at The Cooking School @ Market Bistro


(Latham, N.Y.) -  For the end of January, the Cooking School @ Market Bistro will offer a variety of classes that range from basic cooking to more advanced recipes and skill levels, including; ethnic foods, quick meals, appetizers, baking and pastry classes. The registration fee for each class ranges from $25 to $65.

Thursday, January 226 to 9 pm
Hands On: Celebrate your Roots!
Participants will use root vegetables to create colorful, flavorful dishes that are also vegetarian. Recipes include: root vegetable hash, roasted beet Carpaccio salad with goat cheese and candied pecans and parsnip potato soup. (Registration:  $55 per student (wine served))

Friday, January 236 to 9 pm
Hands On: Girls Night Out/Lighten Up!
Participants will be cooking up delicious and healthy recipes from Weight Watchers to help you stick with New Year’s resolutions.  (Registration:  $55 per student (wine served))
Wednesday, January 286 to 9 pm
Hands On: Soup's On!
What's better during the cold winter months than a bowl of hot soup? Participants will learn to create layers of flavor that feed the senses as well as the soul. Recipes include seafood bisque with brandy cream and chives and spicy black bean with crispy tortillas and chipotle lime crema. (Registration:  $55 per student (wine served))

Thursday, January 2912:15 to 1 pm
Lunch and Learn: Hearty Lunch for a Cold Day
Chef John shows participants how to create a quick and hearty meal. Recipes include winter minestrone soup and sausage bread. (Registration:  $20 per student)

Friday, January 306 to 9 pm
Hands On: Super Snacks for the Big Game 
Cheer on the best team while enjoying super snacks. Participants will learn how to make: pastrami football finger sandwiches, smoked gouda and chorizo jalapeno poppers, Lucky 7 layer dip, Buffalo chicken sliders and tequila lime wings. (Registration:  $55 per student (beer served))

Saturday, January 315 to 8 pm
Hands On: Braising 101
Take meats to the next level using the flavorful, moist cooking method known as braising. Recipes include Hunter Stew (beef, vegetables, wild mushrooms, and potatoes in a savory tomato-wine sauce) and cassoulet (a French stew with chicken thighs, herbs, and white beans).  (Registration:  $55 per student (wine served))

Located in the Latham Price Chopper (873 New Loudon Road, Latham, NY 12110), the Cooking School @ Market Bistro is a state-of-the-art kitchen equipped with hands-on cooking stations where attendees can learn to cook or expand cooking expertise.  Each station is fully stocked with appliances, knives, and cooking equipment designed to resemble a home kitchen.  Both hands-on and demonstration cooking classes are offered, including classes
for children.  With a wide variety of themes, classes will be taught by a member of Price Chopper’s Cooking School Culinary Team, as well as guests such as local chefs, nutrition experts, and cookbook authors.
