Derek Adams, most recently Executive Chef of Max London’s restaurant in downtown Saratoga and the 2015 Rising Star Chef Winner, has joined The Crown Grill as Executive Chef. “We are so thrilled to have Derek join our team; we have admired him for years and respect his vibrancy, talent and commitment to farm to table cuisine,” says Christel MacLean, co-owner of The Crown Grill. “It can take years for a team to really come together in the kitchen and when Derek came in to work with our current team it was like they had worked together for years,” adds co-owner Colin MacLean.
“I am just so excited to start. This is exactly the type of opportunity I was hoping for: a beautiful restaurant, large kitchen, great culinary team and committed owners. On my menu I will keep many of the dishes that have given The Crown Grill such a good name in a short time and will of course also be adding my own dishes. To start I will be creating a bar menu that will launch on Thursday, Jan. 22, the same night that we will be hosting a Bourbon tasting dinner which will allow guests to taste an array of specialty bourbons (Basil Hayden’s, Knob Creek and more) paired with a 4-course dinner that I have created to highlight the whiskeys. I guess you can say that this will be my big debut at The Crown Grill,” Adams said.
In addition to Chef Adams, the team at The Crown Grill will be led by Sous Chef Mitch Miller who joined the restaurant in September after two years as Sous Chef at Mio Posto. “To all have all of this talent under one roof is very exciting. It will bring our cuisine to another level while still making it accessible and affordable for an everyday dining experience,’ says Front of House Manager, Anthony Bauer.
