Dr. Amjad Hammad performs first vitreo-retinal surgery at the New York Eye Surgical Center
May
22, ophthalmologist Dr. Amjad Hammad performed his first vitreo-retinal surgery
in the new state-of-the-art surgery center on North Road in Wilton.
Hammad
has been advancing eye care in upstate New York for nearly 20 years. He
understands how to effectively leverage new technology to achieve the best
possible visual outcomes.
“We
are grateful to have the opportunity to offer our region high-quality, cost-effective
eye surgery,” Hammad said. “When your operating-room team is highly trained in
specialized surgery, and that’s what they do all day, every day, then the
patient benefits.”
The
New York Eye Surgical Center opened in November 2013, and the other practicing
surgeons, CEO Dr. David Westfall, Dr. Mark Hite and Dr. Steve Solomon, have
been performing cataract and glaucoma surgeries there.
“The
outcomes and precision of a surgeon’s work correlate directly with the
frequency the surgeon performs the particular procedure,” Westfall said. “When
physicians have dedicated operating rooms available to them, they are able to
help even more people in the community and provide a faster response in
emergency situations.”
Hammad
is an internationally recognized retina specialist treating patients with
diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, retinal detachment, diabetic
retinopathy and macular edema. He strives to educate his patients about their
ocular diseases and treatment process.
