The 65-year-old, family-owned and operated DeCrescente Distributing Company has been named one of the Best Companies to Work for in New York State for 2014. This year, the Mechanicville beverage distributor was ranked number eight in the large-company category, the highest-ranked company in the Capital District.

DeCrescente Distributing Company services a distribution territory that includes 11 counties spanning 7,500 square miles in eastern New York. Employing more than 375 employees, the firm successfully warehouses, sells, delivers and merchandises more than 10 million cases of beverage products annually, including beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks, to more than 3,000 customers.

Winners were determined through a statewide survey designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in New York, whose practices benefit the state's businesses, economy and workforce.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey to determine the Best Companies to Work for in New York. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies and procedures. The second part of the process consisted of an employee survey to measure employee satisfaction and engagement. The combined score determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group conducted the survey process, then evaluated the results and determined the best places of employment in the Empire State.

Sixty companies were honored May 6 at the New York State Society for Human Resource Management's annual event at the Albany Marriott Hotel.
