The Post-Star new sponsor of South Glens Falls holiday parade
The
Post-Star and the Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Company announced today
that the media company will succeed the bank as the presenting sponsor of the
annual holiday parade in the Village of South Glens Falls.
Plans
call for the Post-Star Holiday Parade to step off from Route 9 in the village
as is customary at 1 p.m. on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, Nov. 23. This will
be the 35th consecutive year that the parade has kicked off the holiday season
in the Tri-County region.
“The
parade is truly one of the iconic events in our region, and we are very excited
to play such a large role in its continuation,” said Rick Emanuel, publisher of
the Post-Star. “Glens Falls National Bank has been a tremendous steward of the
parade for the past five years. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to
carry on the tradition.
“We
are also appreciative to Mayor Joe Orlow and the Village of South Glens Falls
for hosting the parade and welcoming families from across our region,” Emanuel
said.
Thomas
J. Murphy, president of Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Company, said, “Glens
Falls National and our employees are proud to be a part of the parade’s
wonderful tradition. We look forward to enjoying this special holiday event under
the leadership of the Post-Star. The parade is in very good hands.”
Gail
Hamel of Hamel Resources will continue to serve as the parade coordinator, a
role she has filled for the past eight years.
The
South Glens Falls holiday parade attracts thousands of spectators from across
the region who line Route 9 as more than 100 floats and bands representing
schools, businesses and other organizations usher in the holiday season.
Businesses
interested in being involved as a parade sponsor are asked to contact Michelle
Rice, advertising director of the Post-Star at 742-3243 or mrice@poststar.com.
