Northeast Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic Associates
of Saratoga have merged to form OrthoNY, with Alan Okun as CEO of the new company.
"The
Affordable Care Act was a major stimulus for this," he said.
The partnership makes the group one of the largest orthopedic groups in the
area. OrthoNY will have 27 physicians, 19 from Northeast Orthopaedics and eight
from Saratoga. There will also be
19 physician assistants and two nurse practitioners. OrthoNY will have about
200 total employees. Staff will work at seven offices in Albany,
Delmar, East Greenbush, Latham, Clifton
Park, Malta
and Saratoga Springs. OrthoNY is
not affiliating with any hospital, but has close working relationships with St.
Peter's and Saratoga Hospital.
Staff reductions may be made through attrition but there will be no layoffs,
Okun said.
