Noble Gas Solutions Marks 75th Anniversary of Service to its Customers and Community
Leading supplier of industrial gases has evolved to meet the needs of industry and provided significant philanthropic support, including a new pledge to invest $75,000 in local causes and organizations
ALBANY—From its origin as a welding supply company to its transformation into a leading supplier of industrial gases and related products, Noble Gas Solutions today celebrated its 75th anniversary in business by reaffirming the importance of its core principle for success: an unwavering commitment to its customers and its community.
“We are thrilled to celebrate this exciting milestone, and most importantly, to acknowledge the vital role our employees, customers, partners and community have played in Noble’s success,” said David Mahoney, President and CEO of Noble Gas Solutions. “We consider ourselves fortunate to mark this achievement at the same time we continue to invest in and grow our company, and we look forward to a bright and prosperous future.”
The company was founded in 1940 as Albany Welding Supply Company, Inc. and incorporated on March 17, 1952. It was later rebranded as AWESCO in 1985 and Noble Gas Solutions in 2010. Today, Noble Gas Solutions is recognized as a cornerstone of the business community in Albany’s North End. The company has shown a unique ability to evolve in order to meet the region’s economic challenges and opportunities, developing products and services to support the manufacturing era during Noble’s early years, the construction of the Empire State Plaza in the 1960s and 70s, and the rise of the high-tech sector that is currently driving the region’s prosperity.
Along the way, Noble has been recognized on numerous occasions for its success. Just last month, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce honored the company with a “Blue Ribbon Small Business Award” as one of the top 100 small businesses in America. Previously, the U.S. Small Business Administration presented Noble with its “Excellence in Small Business Award.”
Of equal importance to Noble is its strong commitment to giving back to its communities served through philanthropic and volunteer support of charitable organizations and causes. In honor of its anniversary, the company plans to invest an additional $75,000 to support local causes, building on more than $2 million that Noble has contributed during its proud history to support those in need.
“It is a distinct pleasure to congratulate Noble Gas Solutions on reaching this historic milestone of 75 years as a successful and thriving business,” said State Senator Neil Breslin. “Noble is a great demonstration of the strength of our small business community, as well as its importance in supporting the regional economy.”
“The City of Albany and Capital Region are fortunate to count Noble Gas Solutions among its small business leaders, providing good jobs and high-quality products and services to support our economy,” said Assemblyman John T. McDonald III. “As a fellow business owner of a longstanding business, I congratulate Noble as the company celebrates its 75th anniversary in business, and wish them many more years of success.”
“I am delighted to offer congratulations to Noble Gas Solutions on the important occasion of their 75th anniversary,” said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy. “We salute Noble for its valuable contributions to the county’s economic well-being, and offer our sincere wishes for continued success.”
“I congratulate Noble Gas Solution on its 75th anniversary,” said Albany County Comptroller Mike Conners. “It’s fitting to be standing here in North Albany on St. Patrick’s Day in celebration. David and Noble have been a longstanding good neighbor and a deeply invested partner not only in Albany but in the region.”
“I congratulate Noble Gas Solutions, a homegrown Albany business, on its success. This company has not only survived but has continually evolved to help support local economic investment and growth,” said Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan. “We are proud to have Noble as a leader in Albany’s small business community and happy to see the company honor its past by continuing to invest in its future here.”
“I congratulate Dave Mahoney and Noble Gas Solutions on 75 years in business serving the greater Capital Region,” said Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber President and CEO Mark Eagan. “We are proud to have Noble as a leader in our region’s small business community, and excited to see the future unfold as Tech Valley continues to blossom.”
