The Arlington House to close Jan 1, 2015

Edward and Carol Murray owners of The Arlington House have announced the popular West Sand Lake restaurant will close at the end of the year. The Murray’s purchased the property formerly known as The Old Journey’s End in 1999 and spent a year renovating and remodeling. Opening in October of 2000 the restaurant, located at 3532 Route 43 in West Sand Lake, quickly became a favorite local spot receiving numerous favorable reviews. For Chef Edward Murray it was the realization of his culinary school dream to own his own restaurant.
After Fourteen years of committing their time and energy to all aspects of managing and operating the restaurant and off-site catering has made the Murray’s realize they are missing out on many of the activities of their growing children. They feel it’s time to direct more of his attention to them and seek out other opportunities giving them more time with his family.  Although being their own boss has had its perks, helping the community with their yearly Fundraiser event was their favorite thing to Host.
The Arlington House always supported fundraisers hosted by the restaurant and supported by the local community.  The first was The Braille book drive for the local library, Albany medical center NICU, Stride - adaptive sports, Toys for tots, wounded warriors, Visions of Strength, Miracle league, Adopt a family and A Taste Of Sand Lake, just to name a few!
We hope that the Community will understand the decision that we have made and will come in and dine with us over the next two months.  The Arlington House will be open through December 31st.  They will serve regular menu Tuesday through Saturdays.  Also open Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve dinner.
We want to thank our family, friends, vendors, employees and neighbors for making our business successful over the years.  Special thanks to Vic Simeone who has mixed your cocktails for 14 years! The Chefs and servers that have come and gone.  We couldn’t have done it without you all, you know who you are.
Just as the opening involved the local community, the closing will feature a ‘customer appreciation/family and friends’ night Monday December 29th at 6 p.m.  This event will feature music, cash bar and complimentary hors douvers.  We hope to see you all there.

Carol and Edward Murray
