Northeast Career Planning consumers awarded for excellent service

Albany>> The New York State Industry for the Disabled (NYSID) recently recognized three consumers of Northeast Career Planning for exceptional work in various industries at NYSID’s annual awards ceremony.

“We are extremely proud of our award winners. We look forward to the great work they will continue to do in the workplace, supported by the outstanding employees of Northeast Career Planning,” said Rich Bennett, executive director of Northeast Career Planning.

NCP consumer Allison Jackson has been an employee of Camelot Print and Copy Center in Albany since March 2013 after being referred to the NYSID private sector through Northeast Career Planning. In only a year and half, Jackson now performs many tasks in the bindery department and is an important fixture at Camelot, which employs seven individuals with disabilities through a partnership with Northeast Career Planning. Recently, she was named Camelot’s Employee of the Year.

Camelot Consulting Corporation, the parent company of Camelot Print and Copy, was declared the 2014 Corporate Partner of the Year by NYSID for its ongoing commitment to inclusive hiring practices.

“You couldn’t ask for better employees than those from Northeast Career Planning Center,” said John DerBoghossian, vice president at Camelot Consulting Corporation.

Benjamin Hunt was awarded a William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance Award, recognized for his service to the New York State Education Department. Hunt, employed through Northeast Career Planning, maintains print machines, assists in the printing process, organizes print projects and operates the forklift.

Jacob Dewolfe, who also received a William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance Award, has worked as a document-imaging specialist at the Focused Technologies branch at the New York State Insurance Fund since 2008. DeWolfe began his work at Focused Technologies through NYSID’s Preferred Source Program, but he was originally employed at a local market with the help of Northeast Career Planning, and sold car parts at an automotive store. His drive to do more encouraged him to pursue full-time employment.
