The Saratoga-Adirondack Job Service Employer Committee offers breakfast seminar

The Saratoga-Adirondack Job Service Employer Committee (JSEC) is offering a breakfast seminar, Interviewing Techniques to Help Lead to Successful Hires, Thursday, Feb, 7 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Longfellows Restaurant, 500 Union Ave. James E. Marco, Jr., president and principal consultant for Saratoga Human Resources Solutions, will speak.

This seminar is meant to be a practical and fun look at the candidate interview and selection process.  Marco will cover the legal environment, legal pitfalls during interviews, and specific skills needed to  select and retain the right candidate.

The $5-per-person cost for the program, which includes coffee, juice, fresh fruit and muffins, goes directly into a scholarship fund for BOCES students living in Saratoga, Warren and Washington counties who are continuing their education beyond high school. An all-volunteer steering committee coordinates the seminar topics and the scholarship program. Longfellow’s owner, Steve Sullivan, donates the space and the meal in support of this scholarship program.

JSEC is a joint project of the New York State Department of Labor and employers in Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties. The committee offers breakfast seminars every other month on topics of interest to business owners and human resource professionals.

For more information about JSEC, the scholarship program or the steering committee, call Kimberly Haviland at the New York State Department of Labor at 743-0925, ext. 8887.
