F. Michael Tucker to launch business consulting firm to focus on real estate, energy, economic and business development
ALBANY>> Upon stepping down from his leadership position with Center for Economic Growth (CEG), F. Michael Tucker announced that he will launch a consulting firm targeted at devloping innovative growth strategies.
Tucker Strategies will launch on Sept. 1 as an Albany-based real estate, energy, economic, and business development consulting practice.
The firm, which will be located in Suite 804 at 54 State St. in Albany, is expected to help businesses and organizations develop innovative growth strategies based on depth of knowledge, focus on innovation, and commitment to impact.
Clients will be provided development, asset management, financing, regulatory, and government affairs services.
As one of upstate New York’s leading experts on economic development and technology-driven business creation and growth, Tucker brings a 30-year record of accomplishment in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors. Known for his business and economic development skills, he has long been a catalyst in fostering the environment and making the connections necessary for high-tech, advanced manufacturing, and energy companies to succeed.
He is making the transition to the new consulting firm after eight years as president and CEO of the CEG, an economic development and regional marketing organization in New York State’s Tech Valley region.
At CEG, Tucker took a lead role in integrating workforce development and education, driving entrepreneurship and economic development efforts, and addressing the region’s future infrastructure needs. He has been a positive force in the shift toward regionalism and cross-sector collaboration by bringing key projects to completion through inclusive and productive partnerships, and the commitment and investment of CEG’s members.
“I am deeply rooted in Tech Valley, and firmly focused on continuing to facilitate connections, foster collaborations, and bring projects to completion that will further strengthen the region’s economic vitality,” Tucker said in a press release.
“Coupled with my experience at CEG, the Harriman Campus, and Mercer Companies, together with my corporate board service and advisory work with a range of not-for-profit organizations, a solid foundation has emerged, energetically positioning me for the next chapter of my career,” Tucker continued. “I am both gratified and humbled by the response to Tucker Strategies, including requests for collaboration on project development, facilitation, and implementation.”
Tucker graduated from Villanova University with a B.A. in Economics and earned a J.D. from Villanova School of Law. He is active in legal, real estate, and economic development organizations at the local, state, and national levels. He is a former chair of the Town of Bethlehem Industrial Development Agency and has served as a director of the New York State Economic Development Council. He serves as a trustee of Ulster Savings Bank, and is on the board of numerous not-for-profit organizations throughout Tech Valley.
Tucker, an attorney, real estate broker, and registered lobbyist, has extensive legal, financial, energy, and real estate development experience. Prior to joining CEG, he served as president and CEO of the Harriman Research and Technology Development Corp., a subsidiary of Empire State Development, and was a principal for more than 25 years at Mercer Companies, Inc., an Albany-based energy and real estate development firm with projects throughout upstate New York.
