Uncle Sam’s All American Chocolate Factory Celebrates The Grand Opening Of New Latham Location
LATHAM>> On Oct. 30 Uncle Sam’s All American Chocolate
Factory celebrated the grand opening of their second location in Newton Plaza
with a ribbon cutting event. This two hour event, kicked off by a ribbon cutting
ceremony, featured free samples for all who attended, as well as other goodies.
Originally opened in 1930 in Schenectady by Samuel Ashley, Uncle Sam’s All
American Chocolate Factory has been a landmark business in the area for over 80
years. Reopened by Joe Suhrada in 1993 after a short closure, Uncle Sam’s still
features the same recipes and ingredients, but has expanded their offerings by
1,000 percent.
Now, Uncle Sam’s All American Chocolate offers over 2,000 chocolate molded items,
over 200 types of hand dipped chocolates, each flavor of Jelly Belly jelly beans,
Peanut Principal products, and more! Recently, Uncle Sam’s acquired the recipes
and rights to the Chocolate Gecko (formerly of Colvin Ave. in Albany) and will be
featuring their products in the new Newton Plaza shop.
Uncle Sam’s All American Chocolate Factory consistently wins the Capital Region
Living Magazine reader’s poll for “Best Chocolate Shop”, and are proud of it! When
asked what he loves most about his business, owner Joe Suhrada responded simply
that he enjoys “Making people feel like kids again”
