ALBANY>> Three local sisters are on a mission to Make It Pink.
Make It Pink!, an all-new breast cancer awareness fundraiser and shopping event will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16 at The Albany Rail Yard, located at 1118 Central Ave. in Albany. Admission is free and the event is for all ages. Men are welcome to hang out and watch football while the girls do the shopping.
Sisters Stacy Pestuglicci, Kelly Quinn and Cindy Dodge of Colonie, all independent direct sales consultants, came up with the idea for a Make It Pink event together. “We were looking to put together kind of like a ladies night out,” Pestuglicci said.
When they tested the waters, the sisters found overwhelming support for the cause of breast cancer awareness. “We saw different vendors being so willing to donate their time and some of their proceeds,” Pestuglicci said. “It was just really heartwarming to hear all of the help that we could get in making it a successful event.”
The first time event will include more than a dozen local vendors, raffles, a silent auction, hair extensions and plenty of shopping.
Vendors include Thirty One Gifts, Jamberry, It Works, Perfectly Posh, Tupperware, Tastefully Simple, Mary Kay, Pure Romance, Traci Lynn Fashion Jewelry, Stella and Dot, PartyLite, Usborne Books and Younique 3D Mascara.
Anyone who wears pink to the event will automatically be entered in a raffle to win a gift basket.
The beneficiary of the fundraiser is To Life!, a nonprofit organization founded by breast cancer survivor, Mara Ginsberg in 1998. To Life! provides personalized, free-of-charge breast cancer education and support services at a time needed most to women and their families. With offices in Delmar and Saratoga Springs, the organization’s mission is to educate the community about breast cancer detection, treatments, and health-related matters and to provide support services to breast cancer patients, caregivers, family, and friends.
On why the sisters chose To Life! to donate to,  “It was very interesting to me that its a not for profit organization that solely benefits from support from the community,” Pestuglicci said.
