Katrina Trask Nursery School to offer Innovative Cooperative Learning Class for two-year-olds

SARATOGA SPRINGS - The Katrina Trask Nursery School announced it will offer its

first ever cooperative learning class for two year old children beginning Monday September 28th. The

new class for two year olds will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30am until 11:30am. Katrina

Trask is the only parent cooperative nursery school in Saratoga Springs and adds this new class to its

existing curriculum for three and four year olds. Registration is currently open for two and three year

olds.

A cooperative preschool offers parents opportunities to actively participate in their child’s school day.

“At Katrina Trask, we have always embodied a learn through play philosophy and provided parents a

way to participate in their children’s learning,” said Trish Wildermuth, Katrina Trask’s lead teacher.

“Instead of sitting at a table with worksheets, you will find us counting how many hops it takes to get

across the playground or cutting up the letters to ‘feed’ to the hungry bear, who is preparing to

hibernate.” A recent study, HighScope’s Preschool Curriculum Comparison Study, suggests that children

who explore through play will develop physical, language, and social skills with more success than those

“in a directive driven preschool setting.”

For more information on registering for the two’s and three’s classes, call the school at 518-584-8968.

The school’s annual consignment sale is its biggest and most important fundraiser and will be held

Friday, October 16th from 3:00pm-8:00pm and Saturday, October 17th from 9:00am – 1:00pm at the

American Legion on 34 West Ave in Saratoga Springs.
