GLOBALFOUNDRIES-Town of Malta Foundation Accepting Applications for 2015 Grants



Foundation planning to distribute approximately $150,000 in next wave of funding to local organizations supporting community programs

Deadline for grant applications is October 31, 2015

Malta – September 9, 2015 – The GLOBALFOUNDRIES-Town of Malta Foundation is now accepting grant applications for its next round of funding to support local community organizations.  Applications for grant funding can be downloaded from the Foundation’s Web site (URL:  https://sites.google.com/site/gfmaltafoundationorg/home ) and must be submitted online or postmarked by October 31, 2015. The Foundation plans to award approximately $150,000 in grants to selected organizations by the end of this year.

The GLOBALFOUNDRIES-Malta Foundation provides thousands of dollars of grant funding every year to organizations, programs and projects that provide tangible benefits of a public nature to diverse groups serving the citizens of the Town of Malta including, not-for-profit corporations, charitable organizations, community arts and theater groups, community historical sites, special events, education programs, and sports and recreation activities.

Each year, the GLOBALFOUNDRIES-Town of Malta Foundation looks for projects that are creative, innovative, and inclusive in their scope and opportunities that will provide the maximum amount of benefit to the local Malta community.  In 2011, the GLOBALFOUNDRIES-Malta Foundation distributed its first round of grant funding by awarding a total of $37,500 to 13 local organizations.  In 2012, the GLOBALFOUNDRIES-Malta Foundation distributed grant awards to 23 local organizations for a total of $60,000 in funding.  In 2013, the Foundation distributed $164,000 to 38 local organizations supporting a wide variety of community programs.   In 2014, the Foundation distributed $172,900 to 43 local organizations.

As part of the development of the Fab 8 project, GLOBALFOUNDRIES has contributed a total of $5 million to fund two stand-alone 501 (c)3 charitable foundations: the GLOBALFOUNDRIES-Town of Malta Foundation and the GLOBALFOUNDRIES-Town of Stillwater Foundation.  Both foundations are managed by an independent Board of Directors and are actively working with local organizations to improve our community.

Since breaking ground on Fab 8 in 2009, GLOBALFOUNDRIES has created approximately 3,000 new direct jobs.   In addition, the project has required millions of construction man hours to complete and created approximately 20,000 new direct construction jobs on site since 2009.
GLOBALFOUNDRIES has manufacturing operations in Dresden, Germany; Malta and East Fishkill New York, Vermont and Singapore. These sites are supported by a global network of R&D, design enablement, and customer support operations in Singapore, China, Taiwan, Japan, the United States, Germany, India and the Netherlands.
