Summer is more than half way over and 2015 has proven that downtown Troy is really the summer place to be. We have had a very successful year so far and have seen many smiling faces at Riverfest, Rockin' on the River, the Troy Pig Out, Free Fitness in the Park, Troy Night Out, and the Troy Makers Market alongside the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market. We've seen some new events come into downtown via some old friends too, like Troy Flea which takes place on Sunday at 11 AM in Riverfront Park. Thanks to everyone who helped make downtown a great destination no matter what the reason, and here's to the rest of this beautiful season. Friday, August 28, 5:00-9:00PM Over 50 Different locations throughout downtown Troy TNO is all about enjoying summer this month! Come downtown the last Friday in August and enjoy a wonderful summer night while supporting local businesses. We are lucky that August's Troy Night Out coincides with Sage Colleges and RPI's Welcome Fest. The celebration to welcome these new students will end in fireworks, and we'll also be hosting our downtown scavenger hunt, which is a great way to get these new students acquainted with downtown Troy. The classes change between Suples training with Joe and Ashley Uccellini from Underground Fitness, to relaxing yoga with Heartspace Yoga. These local craft vendors vary from week to week, and offer wonderful handmade goods.    Did you miss the Troy Pig Out?  RiverFront Park  Saturday, July 11, 10:00AM - 9:00PM  The Troy Pig Out successfully completed its eighth year on Saturday, July 11th. The Downtown Troy Business Improvement District would like to thank everyone who participated and made this a successful event. Everyone enjoyed a beautiful, sunny day "pigging out" with friends. Karma will also be hosting a special event at this month's Troy Night Out on Friday July 31st.  For more information on Karma check out their website here.  The Takk House& Albany Distilling Co.   55 3rd Street The Takk House has officially teamed up with the Albany Distilling Co. You will now be able to attend the Takk House one to two times a month for a "shake-up". These events will be full of specialty cocktails and entertainment. The "shake-up" dates are to be announced periodically,  so keep checking the Takk House website  andFacebook  for updates.  Lux Massage Therapy & Related Retail  207 River Street Lux will be opening this month at it's home 207 River Street. Lux is being opened by Gwendolyn Guarino, a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist. Gwendolyn practices here in Troy as well as in New York City where she teaches a successful Couples Massage Workshop. Lux offers many different massage therapy services, and will no doubt help relax the wonderful people of Troy. For more details about the services offered check out the website here.   The Balance Loft 11 State Street  The Balance Loft is opening this month , adding yet another great service to  Downtown Troy. Kelly Kendall, a local entrepreneur, is the woman behind this great new business.  The Balance Loft will be the area's only  infrared heated warm and hot Studio.  The Balance Loft  will be offering pilates mat, Barre, Yoga, Warm and Hot Yoga, and TRX. For a schedule and more information about this new business check out the website here.  Troy Flea  Riverfront Park Sunday's from 11:00am to 4:00pm   The Troy Flea Market is another great addition to Downtown. Troy Flea was started by Jessica McEnaney, a local store owner. Troy Flea has only been open a week and has already won Best Flea Market, in Metroland's the best of Goods & Services article for 2015. Come hang out on the deck overlooking the Hudson River, and enjoy food and live music. Sunday the 26, the Stray Dogs will be performing.
