Shaker Pointe hosts open house to celebrate unveiling of its new 75,000 square foot residence Spirit Tree
Celebrity chef Bal Arneson, joins Shaker Pointe’s Open House as the senior living community commemorates the completion of its final phase
WATERVLIET>> Capital District senior living community Shaker Pointe at Carondelet announces that it’s hosting an Open House event on Thursday, June 11 to celebrate the official unveiling of its final installment, called Spirit Tree. The event will feature demonstrations from the Cooking Channel’s Bal Arneson, host of “Spice Goddess,” along with a performance from the Shaker Pointe
Chorus and a showcase from New York-based artist, Christine Hales.
The event is a great opportunity for area seniors to get a first hand look at Spirit Tree, which houses 56 apartments and is directly connected to the community center, called The Pointe. Residents often gather at The Pointe, which opened last spring, to take advantage of its incredible amenities, such as an activities studio, fitness center, movie theater, library, dining venues, and to socialize with neighbors at regular programs hosted in the great room, like author presentations and musical
performances.
Like Shaker Pointe’s other buildings, Spirit Tree is LEED certified and features Energy Star appliances in each unit. The award-winning design elements found throughout Shaker Pointe are continued in this final structure, including granite kitchen countertops, walk-in closets, outdoor patios for gathering and plush wall-to-wall carpeting.
Attendees to the Open House will have an opportunity to take a tour of Spirit Tree and also enjoy demonstrations and food tastings with celebrity chef, Bal Arneson of the Cooking Channel and Food Network Canada’s “Spice Goddess.” Chef Bal will offer tips and samplings of food inspired by India, with a focus on fresh ingredients and exotic flavors. Her unique approach to food will engage audiences, as she pulls inspiration from her three-bestselling cookbooks, called Everyday Indian, Bal’s Quick and Healthy Indian, and Bal’s Spice Kitchen.
In addition to the cooking demonstration, the Open House will feature the Shaker Pointe Chorus who will be performing a special presentation, as well as guest artist, Christine Hales, demonstrating her watercolor and colored pencil technique. Latham Primary Care will also be providing complimentary blood pressure checks.
Shaker Pointe, located at One Bell Tower Drive in Watervliet, is excited to welcome the public to this free program on Thursday, June 11 from 1 pm to 4 pm.
