Jerzey's Dog Resort to open this summer

SARATOGA COUNTY>> Dogs are going to have a new local hangout this summer, when Jerzey's Dog Resort opens its doors.

Business owner Kristine Lambracht is in the process of closing on a property in a rural, but easily accessible setting in Saratoga County, and hopes to be operating  Jerzey's Dog Resort by June or July.

“It’s going to start out as a dog boarding facility, but probably in the very near future I’m going to open it up for daycare as well,” Lambracht said.

There will be an indoor play yard, nine small outdoor play yards and even one with an inground pool do dogs can swim.

Dogs that are boarding will be able to play with daycare dogs in the play yards as long as they pass a temperament test and can get along with other dogs.

“It’s a cozy type of a place,” Lambracht said. Rooms are equipped with little beds and blankets for boarding guests. “It’s going to be as cozy of an atmosphere as it can be  for dogs that are boarding.”

On why she decided to open this kanine haven, Lambracht has worked in corporate America for the past four years and needed a change. “I always had the desire to be an entrepreneur, but I didn’t know what I wanted to do.”

“I’ve always been an animal lover. I raised chickens and pigs and a deer,” Lambracht continued,  but her parents never allowed her to have a dog. When she graduated from college, Lambracht got her first dog name Jerzey.

“That’s when I found my appreciation for the relationship you have with a dog,” Lambracht said. “Dogs are just on a whole other level than any pets in terms of companionship.”

Lambracht has been interning with Dog Logic in Gansevoort since January, “That’s where I’ve gotten a lot of hands-on experience with caring for other dogs and learning about dog behavior.”

Soon, she will be opening her own doggy business.
