The Colonie Chamber of Commerce 2015 Annual Dinner Award Recipients
Colonie>> The Colonie Chamber of Commerce honored Hoffman’s Playland
with the Spirit of the Community Award, as well as the recipients of the Colonie
Beautification Achievement Awards, the 2014 Volunteer of the Year, and the
Women-4-Women fundraising award at their Annual Dinner held at the Century
House on Thursday, January 29.
Created by the Colonie Chamber of Commerce to honor community members
who have continually made Colonie a better place to live and work, the Spirit of
the Community Award was accepted by Dave and Ruth Hoffman of Hoffman’s
Playland.
“This award is in recognition of the 62 years of joy and thousands of memories that
it has given not only to Colonie, but the entire Capital Region,” Says Tom Nolte,
President of the Colonie Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to the Spirit of the Community Award, the Colonie Chamber of
Commerce named the winners of the Colonie Beautification Achievement Awards.
Awarded by the Chamber’s Government Relations, Economics, and Transportation
(G*R*E*A*T) Committee, awards were created to recognize businesses who strive to
enhance the quality of life in the Town of Colonie and contribute to the community’s
physical environment.
Awarded in three categories, the winners are as follows:
• New Construction:
o New Loudon Associates, The Village at New Loudon—Completed in
2014, the newly constructed buildings at 622 New Loudon Rd. offer
multiple commercial units, with additional residential development
already underway behind the existing buildings.
• Redevelopment:
o BCI Construction, The Loudon House Condominiums—BCI has
removed the burnt remains of Eamonn’s Irish Pub in Loudonville and
created the Loudon House Condominiums, a two story, 24 unit luxury
condominium complex modeled after George Washington’s Mount
Vernon home.
• Curb Appeal:
o Siena College, The Grotto at Siena—Located on the Siena campus
behind the Fr. Benjamin Kuhn, O.F.M. House, the Grotto at Siena
was completed in Fall 2014 and is modeled after the shrine in
Lourdes, France, including a water feature and statue of Mary from
the original Siena Grotto dedicated in 1947.
Also named at the Annual Dinner was the recipient of the Colonie Chamber
of Commerce 2014 Volunteer of the Year, the Chamber’s Women-4-Women
Committee. Recognized for their outstanding dedication and devotion to furthering
the professional development and leadership of women in Colonie, the Committee
has donated over $20,000 through their Charitable Works Program.
As part of these donations, the 2014 adopted charity, Dress for Success Albany,
received $7,000 as the result of the years fundraising efforts.
