Ballston Spa Veterinary Clinic raising money for pet assistance fund
Ballston Spa Veterinary Clinic is raising money for its Pet Assistance Fund by donating $5.00 for every Fecal Exam tested at the Clinic during the month of June.
The Pet Assistance Fund is BSVC’s initiative to help clients who are having financial difficulty taking care of their pets. In 2014, 53 different families and their pets benefited from the Pet Assistance Fund, for a total of $8,802.11 given to families in need.
The fund’s money comes from three main sources: the Clinic’s TNR (trap-neuter-release) program in which BSVC’s doctors donate their time to spay and neuter hundreds of feral cats with service proceeds going to the fund, the Clinic’s annual Valentine’s Day Raffle, and the Clinic’s annual Pet-Stock adoption clinic and fun day.
“While these programs raise a lot of money for the Pet Assistance Fund, we want to do more.” said Ballston Spa Veterinary Clinic Owner Dr. Eric Andersen. “Annual Fecal Exams are very important to a pet’s overall health and well-being, as they screen for internal parasites that can rob your pet of nutrition and even pose a danger to people. An Annual Fecal Exam is something every pet can benefit from, so that is why we have chosen to donate $5.00 from every Fecal Exam tested at our Clinic during the month of June to the Pet Assistance Fund.”
So far this month the Clinic has raised nearly $500 for the Pet Assistance Fund through the Fecal Exam program. The Clinic hopes to raise over $1,000 by month’s end.
