Burton, who previously served as chief financial officer, will oversee day-to-day operations, create operations strategy and policies, and communicate strategy and policy to employees.

“Eric has been a key part of Hometown Health and has spent the past five years helping to overhaul this operation,” said Hometown Health Centers CEO Joe Gambino.  “Thanks to his diligence, this center is receiving more federal money, treating more patients and recently opened a new primary care facility in Amsterdam.  In this newly created position, Eric will work to ensure that this organization remains an integral part of the Capital Region’s healthcare landscape.”

Before joining Hometown Health Centers in 2009, Burton spent eight years as the chief financial officer for the Hudson Headwaters Health Network, a federally qualified health center comprising 12 clinical locations at that time.  In that capacity he oversaw accounting, accounts payable, payroll, budgeting, reimbursement, and financial analysis.

Prior to that, he served as both director of finance and controller at Cambridge-based McClellan Health System, as well as director of claims at HUM Healthcare Systems in Glens Falls.  Burton, who was named “CFO of the Year” in 2014 by the Albany Business Review, began his career as a claims examiner at Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Albany.

He is a graduate of Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y.
