Berkshire Bank Supports Local Food Banks, Makes Community Greener with eStatements

PITTSFIELD, MASS, February 6, 2015 – Berkshire Bank, America’s Most Exciting Bank®, announced today that its initiative to move customers from paper statements to eStatements—in an effort to reduce their carbon footprint—resulted in 1,099 customer conversions.  As a result of this campaign, Berkshire Bank Foundation is donating $3,500 to local food banks—having previously pledged donations for every account that converted to eStatements.

A secure and convenient way to stay organized while helping the environment
Similar to paper statements, Berkshire Bank eStatements are delivered regularly to each customer. An email message alerts the customer when their statement is available online.  Not only does this reduce paper usage, it is a secure way to manage finances without the worry of disposing traditional statements through recycling and shredding.

The selected food banks that will be receiving funding are: the Food Bank of Greater Boston; the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts; the Worcester County Food Bank; the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY; Food Bank of Central New York; FoodShare of Connecticut; and Vermont Food Bank.  The donations from the Berkshire Bank Foundation are based on the number of accounts converted to eStatements from November 1 to December 31, 2014.

Berkshire Bank’s eStatement campaign won the New England Financial Marketing Association’s “Best in Marketing” Award for the category of image, green campaign.  The award is the official event of NEFMA and honors the names, faces and companies behind the engaging, creative and innovative social media and marketing campaigns that drive the success of financial institutions throughout New England.
