New Irish Pub in Downtown Albany, Public House 42, to Celebrate Grand Opening

ALBANY>> The Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID) announces the grand opening celebration of Public House 42, located at 42 Eagle Street, on Friday, November 7, 2014 beginning at 5:00 PM. Located directly across from the Capital Center site, and around the corner from Wellington Row, the public is invited to attend the event featuring complimentary appetizers, drink specials and personalized engraved pint glasses.

The Irish pub and restaurant is the latest business venture by Chris Pratt and Alessio Depoli, who also own The Capital American Eatery & Lounge and Pearl Street Pub in the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District.

“The opening of Public House 42 is another indication that downtown Albany is thriving and that even before ground is broken on the Capital Center, its presence is already adding to the local economy,” says Albany Mayor Kathy M. Sheehan. “I commend partners Chris Pratt and Alessio Depoli on recognizing this City’s future and being an active part of where we are going.”

With such close proximity to two major projects in Downtown, Public House 42 is already capitalizing on the over 200 construction jobs created at the two sites, and will soon have the opportunity to draw customers in from the over 300 permanent jobs that are expected between the Capital Center and Wellington Row, and the anticipated 87,000 convention center visitors each year.

Pratt says he saw the need for an authentic Irish pub in Albany. That, paired with a prime location, led him to jump at the opportunity to open it at 42 Eagle Street, the space that housed the Capital Hill Deli and private residences in previous years.

“Public House 42 is the perfect location to relax and watch out the window as downtown Albany literally changes before your very eyes,” says BID executive director Georgette Steffens. “The $180 million in investment happening in Downtown this year is the accumulation of private and public ventures collaborating and creating immediate impact in this area.”

Staying true to the Irish theme while providing new twists on traditional meals, Public House 42’s menu includes Corned Beef & Cabbage, Shepherd’s Pie, Guinness Baked Mac & Cheese, Burgers, Salads and an Irish Breakfast, which is served all day. Specifically, Pratt notes that the Bangers and Mash has been quite popular, and that demand has been very high for the chef’s New England Clam Chowder. Gluten free and vegetarian dishes are available.

“The future of downtown Albany is happening now, and I am thrilled to be a part of it,” says Pratt. “This opening represents a continued commitment to both the Capital City and serving up great food to those who work, live and visit this area. We’ve had a great response to our other restaurants and are excited to bring that same level of quality and customer service to Public House 42.”

The grand opening celebration will include Tellamore Dew Irish Whiskey samples and drink specials from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Guinness will provide free personalized engraved pint glasses to the first 50 guests from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Public House 42 is open 7:00 AM to 1:00 AM Monday through Friday4:00 PM to 1:00 AM Saturday and Noon to 8:00 PM on Sunday. For additional information, visitwww.publichouse42.com, call 518.650.6015, or find them on Facebook atwww.Facebook.com/PublicHouse42.
