Elizabeth’s Table cleared for the last time
After less than a year, Mike
and Elizabeth Phillips have closed Elizabeth's Table, their restaurant
at 10 Broadway in the historic Algonquin Building. Known for serving an eclectic
mix of sweet and savory treats, as well as homemade soups, sandwiches, salads,
breads and unique dinners, the eatery became rapidly popular among Saratogians.
Many fans wrote their regrets on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
“Thanks for introducing
me to quinoa and popovers!” wrote Tammy L. Sheffield. “A lot of people will
miss Elizabeth's Table, myself
included.”
The Phillipses owned the
Cupcake Lab in Long Alley before opening Elizabeth’s Table. On their
Facebook page, the owners wrote a warm hail and farewell:
“As disappointed as we
are to have this very sad outcome, we will truly miss each of you. We put our
heart and soul into our business, trying our best to serve local, organic and
mindful food that was also delicious. It is gratifying to know it was
appreciated by so many of you. We hope you will support other locally owned
businesses and not wait to try them...they need your business now, even if only
for a coffee and dessert, or a T-shirt or maybe a new ladle at Compliments to the
Chef. We do not know what our next step will be, but we do know it will not be
another restaurant. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you have
done for us.”
