Chef’s Deli & More Expands Services to Include Meals to Go


TROY, NY…After several successful, bustling months as Troy’s newest deli and catering establishment, Chef’s Deli & More at 689 Hoosick Road has enhanced its culinary capabilities to provide a comprehensive Meals to Go program focusing on convenience, affordability and healthy, delicious cuisine.

For prices not significantly exceeding those of traditional fast food restaurants, customers will be able to choose from a remarkable array of sumptuous and nutritious Meals to Go meticulously prepared by Certified Executive Chef James Rhoads. Prices range from $3.50 for soup to $10.50 for a regularly changing array of seafood, chicken, beef, pork, pasta and vegetarian entrees and side dishes.

A sample of recent menu items includes baked chicken with dill dumplings and rosemary roasted chicken, honey glazed pork loin, cold gazpacho soup and cold strawberry melon soup, linguine with white clam sauce, lemon baked fish, grilled shrimp with sweet potato relish, and grilled beef kabobs over curry rice.

According to his wife and partner, Linda Rhoads, “Chef Rhoads has the background and training to go far beyond any other deli or food-to-go business in our region. Jim is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, a Certified Executive Chef and a member of the American Academy of Chefs. He also belongs to the Honorable Society of the Golden Toque, the highest honor a chef can achieve in America. This means he brings to the table the ability to work with clients in a way other deli owners cannot do.”

Chef’s Deli & More has established a set of delicious meals that will change on a weekly and monthly basis. Based on a personal consultation, Chef Rhoads can also make informed recommendations for special dietary needs including diabetes, sodium restricted, gluten free and heart healthy diets, even individual food preferences and aversions.

“Jim is a diabetic and heart attack survivor himself, so he is uniquely sensitive to and knowledgeable about the needs of that clientele,” says Linda. “He’s also taught heart healthy Mediterranean cooking at the Center for Preventive Medicine with Dr. Paul Lemanski, and cooking classes for folks undergoing cancer treatment for the Cancer Treatment Center at Samaritan Hospital.”

Chef's Deli & More is a great option for members of the active or not so active over 55 community who want a convenient, hassle-free way to have healthy, delicious, affordable meals for themselves or provide their older loved ones with nutritious, balanced meals that will keep them healthy and active.

The deli is just a short distance east on Route 7 from Planet Fitness, which makes it an excellent stop after a workout to pick up a fresh, ready to heat dinner. They can easily customize meals to meet any taste or requirement, including creating larger portions if requested, and offer the convenience of meals for one.

Meals to Go customers have the option of just dropping by and picking up their meals, but are encouraged to call ahead on Fridays for pickup the next week to ensure their complete orders will be filled. There are additional Meals to Go available in the Deli for walk in customers, but these quantities could be limited. Ordering ahead will ensure availability.

Customers can also have their meals delivered within a one mile radius of the deli. Meals for home delivery must be ordered by the Friday prior to Tuesday delivery.

Chef’s Deli & More cannot accept credit cards for home delivery, but does accept credit cards for pickup at the deli.


The deli’s hours are 10 am to 7 pm Monday to Friday and 9 am to 5 pm Saturday (closed Sunday). They may be reached by phone at 274-DELI and 274-CHEF (274-3354 and 274-2433) or by fax at 274-FOOD (274-3663).
